Who said you can’t find a deserted beach in the South of France in the middle of June?!! On the advice of some of the locals we headed today to Paulilles (about 25mins drive from Villelongue, situated between Port Vendres and Banyuls sur Mer), where there is a lovely little beach situated (rather oddly) on the site of one of Alfred Nobel’s old Dynamite factory’s. It’s now a park and marine reserve, so the kids enjoyed checking out some of the fish who were swimming close to shore. Best thing was that there was only a handful of people there, as opposed to the main beaches closer to Argeles which are now filling up with the summer tourist deluge.
