Magnificent Millau

We decided to take the long route to the Dordogne – via the famous Millau Viaduct. It added a couple of hours to the trip but was well worth it. Designed by Norman Foster and opened at the end of 2004, it is the world’s highest multi-stayed viaduct (whatever that means) at 343 metres. For those interested in details, it has a total length of 2.46km, has a deck area of 65,000m2 and took 3 years to build at a cost of 400m Euro’s. All I know is that it is stunning to look at from every angle (...I wonder if it will still be standing in 2000 years from now, like the Pont du Gard?).
