Big weekend ahead

The locals are getting excited! Two big events this weekend - the annual Ceret Cherry Festival (including, amongst other things the hotly contested Stone Spitting Contest) and the final of the Top 14 national club rugby competition, featuring Perpignan USAP (the Club that Dan Cater famously played 4 games for, before getting injured). Of course in our household the big event will actually be on Sunday when we host some of Caitlin's new friends for her 10th birthday party. We're hoping for a continuation of the current fine hot weather so we can put the pool to good use (...and because none of them speak much English so pointing to the pool and making swimming actions will be an easy way out).

That's if we make it in one piece. It's been a bad week on the health front; both Caitlin and I have had cold's (exacerbated by Spring allergies), and Amy now seems to have caught this as well. And today, Heather fell down the stairs (before school, so consumption of wine can't be used an excuse), and I tripped while out running (I could claim that this was because of the rugged terrain in the hills, but I really just tripped). Anyway, no major damage. Just some cuts, bruises, aches and pains (...maybe we're feeling our age?).

One of the interesting "traditions" at the school seems to be that the birthday girl provides cake and other treats for her class mates on the actual day (which in Caitlin's case is Monday). As a result this morning we purchased commercial quantities of sugar and flour so that H can bake up a feast of choccy cake and fudge. So we can expect a late night Sunday!
